Creating your Personal Channel is easy. You'll need to know the URL of the page or pages you want to link to and determine such things as whether or not you want to include images, link to pages deeper in the website, link to pages off the web site, and how large (maximum channel size) you want the channel to be.

Pages commonly downloaded as Personal Channels include workout schedules, event listings, local movie listings, maps and directions, reviews, niche web sites, personal and family web sites, church bulletins, etc.
The AvantGo software does not support Frames and in most earlier versions will not support animation, Flash or Java Script. Other than that, most static HTML pages can be downloaded. Some will look better than others, depending on the sizes of tables and images. It is best, of course, if you can download pages expressly designed for viewing on a PDA or Smartphone. More information about creating PDA-friendly pages can be found in our developer guide.

Be sure you include the complete URL. Often the best way to do this is to cut and paste the address from your desktop menu bar. You can double check that you have the right page and full URL by clicking on "View" button which enables you to go directly to that page for verification.
You can control the amount of content you are bringing down to your PDA by setting the Maximum channel size. Too small, and you may not get all the content you want. Too big, and you may get unwanted content as well as take up unneeded memory from your 2MB free allotment (8MB, if you've purchased additional capacity). The AvantGo software compresses HTML so you can get a lot more on your device than you might think. In general a max size of 100K should be more than sufficient to download a single web page not formatted for a PDA. Most AvantGo channels designed for PDAs range in size from 50K to 500K. You may have to do some experimentation to figure out the most appropriate size. After you synced, you can view how big the Personal Channel is, by clicking on your "Manage Your Subscriptions" link, located in the menu bar to the right.
If you just want to download the one page, set link depth to "0." If you set it to "1" it will pull the pages connected to EVERY link on that page; "2" and it will pull all the links on every one of those pages as well. Generally, unless the site is mostly text or you have created a PDA-friendly site yourself, you will want to set the link depth to "0."
In general, unless the page you are linking to has been formatted for viewing on a PDA, you will want to click "No" for "Include Images." In many cases larger images designed for desktop browsing won't render.
In general, you will want to have "Follow Off-Site Links" checked "No" unless you are linking to a PDA-friendly mobile website that has content hosted on more than one server. Otherwise you may be accidentally pulling pages from other websites and adding significantly to your memory load.
If the page you are downloading has content that frequently changes, you may want to "refresh" it on every sync. If it is static or relatively static, you will want to set the refresh rate accordingly. Maximizing the refresh rate will minimize your sync time.
