Automated email response

If you want AvantGo to send an automated email response to users who opt-in, provide the creative for the email as part of the whole creative package you submit. In most cases, you will be supplying two separate versions of your email: HTML, and text-only.

You must submit the "from name," "reply-to address," and "subject" line for your email along with the creative for your ad before we can set up your ad for previewing.

Note: You must have AvantGo host your Data Collection in order for AvantGo to send an email responder (see the next section). If you prefer, you can code your own email responder that lives on your (or a third party) server and set the action of your form to submit to it.

All email addresses submitted will be made available to you via the login-protected reporting tool. Please see your sales representative for details. We cannot track page view or click-through information from the sent emails.

Targeting email formats

  • HTML
  • We strongly recommend sending an HTML-formatted email for the most effective impact with your customers. You should devote ample time and expert resources to developing an appealing and professional email that includes desired information and links to your website. Detailing the creative requirements for an HTML-formatted email exceeds the scope of this document; you may wish to contract AvantGo Ad Services for help with any aspect of the development of an HTML email. Please consult your sales representative for details. You will need to host any images in the HTML email on a web server somewhere. AvantGo provides a web server for this purpose if you choose to submit the images to us.

  • Text-only
  • Not everyone is capable of receiving HTML formatted emails. You should create a plain-text version of your email for these persons. Keep in mind that special characters (e.g., 'smart-quotes,' ®, ©, ™) will show up incorrectly.

Jump page requirements for auto-responders

  • Obviously, you need to include a form with a text field to accept the user's email address as well as a submit button. AvantGo will pre-populate this field with the user's email address to save them from having to enter it.
  • If you want users to decide which (HTML or plain-text) email to receive, you need to include a check box with an appropriate caption ("I can receive HTML mail").
