This document assumes that you are already a competent web developer who is comfortable with desktop web development. That is, you are familiar with the issues involved in developing content for a website that is designed to be viewed in Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, running on a desktop PC with a high resolution color monitor and a live Internet connection.
The goal of this introductory chapter is to orient you to the different design and management issues that you face in developing an AvantGo channel.
The rest of the chapters in this document detail the solutions that are available to you in meeting these design challenges.
If you are really in a hurry to get your channel up and running, you should at least skim the section in this chapter titled What is an AvantGo channel?.
